Sports Fitness Model Criteria
WPA Sports Fitness Model division consists of Group Comparisons and Individual Presentations. Judging Criteria is based on symmetry, having a healthy-toned physique and stage presence/marketability.
Competitors must be 15-19 years of age for Teen Divisions and 18+ for Debut, Novice, Open. For Master’s categories (40+, 50+, etc.), competitors must be within the age restrictions at the time of competition.
Stage Presence: Competitors will be judged on overall presentation, marketability, confidence, poise, suit selection and grooming. Competitors should exude confidence and energy.
Physique and Symmetry: Competitors will be judged on an overall healthy-toned physique with even distributions of body fat. Competitors should not display an abundance of muscle size, deep muscle separation, or muscle striations. Bodybuilding poses are not permitted.
Women - Two-piece bikini suits are worn with clear, high-heeled shoes. Suits can be of any color and should cover a minimum of half of the gluteus maximus and all of the frontal area. The heels should be clear, no higher than 6inches with the sole no higher than 2inches.
Men - Swim trunks are worn and male competitors are barefoot or may wear appropriate sandals.
Jewelry is NOT permitted (wedding rings are acceptable)
G-strings, Thongs, and Platform heels are not permitted.
Sports Fitness Model competitors are allowed to cross-over into other divisions
Round 1 - Swimwear Round
Competitors will walk from diagonally from the stage entrance to far stage left, and perform a free-style pose. Then walk to the opposite side of the stage and perform a freestyle pose, back to center stage (pause/free-style pose) then back to the rear stage line up.
Competitors will then go through group comparisons.
Sport Fitness Model Poses consist of:
Front Model Pose – Facing forward in pose of choice that best accentuates the physique
Rear Model Pose – Head facing back of the stage in pose of choice that best accentuates the physique.
Round 2 – Sports Wear/Sport Theme
Competitors will wear require to wear a sport fitness or sports themed outfit that is stylish and compliments the competitor’s physique. Competitors will walk from diagonally from the stage entrance to far stage left, and perform a free-style pose. Then walk to the opposite side of the stage and perform a freestyle pose, back to center stage (pause/free-style pose) then back to the rear stage line up. The judges are looking for poise, confidence, and presentation.
Competitors are allowed to have fun and play to their outfit as in the case of the sportswear round (i.e. If the competitor wears a tennis outfit, they may swing the racquet pretending to hit a tennis ball). Once all of the competitors have completed their stage walk, the head judge will bring the group forward and execute a series of quarter turns.
